3D MODELLING WITH BLENDER
3D Model Creations from basic diagrams/drawings/photos
Since 2021 I began learning Blender 3D creation as stock photography is limited in this industry due to regulation outlines and specific design requirements, so I suggested learning 3D creation to enable us to create unique models and scenes/diagrams.
This has propelled our designs and my artwork is used in publications, magazines and videos as the models can be used several times and placed in different scenarios. It also offers us a unique design perspective as we need to rely less on stock images that competitors can also use since the 3D artwork is created solely by myself and I have copyrighted the images to the company.

Solar PV and Electrical Storage Systems Training Rig
I was tasked to recreate the entire training rig in the photo for use in the brochures and marketing for colleges/schools and apprentice publications. All the elements are individual and highly detailed so as you can imagine this was quite
a time consuming project, although the finished model and follow up use for marketing and training videos etc has been highly beneficial. This was also used as a cover image for The Competent Person Magazine in 2024.

NAPIT Roadshow
Exhibition Stand
This was one of my first 3D projects in Blender, before I had learned the colour/materials I created some of the objects in blender and used Adobe Dimension to complete the rest and render the images.
It was to create a concept for an updated stand on our Technical Roadshows. It was used for design and planning plus for marketing the events in advance since the stand was not yet constructed.
Workshop/Garage Full 3D Scene
For this brief I was asked to recreate the diagram (right) into a 3D scene so it looks realistic.
Firstly I adjusted the scale of several elements within the diagram as the plug sockets are larger than the desktop grinder and sink for example. The Consumer Unit placement and cables are also out of place so this needed to be adjusted.
I recreated this image as below, with cables shown as cut out sections in the wall or with trunking and with everything in proportion to make it into a realistic workshop scene. I added in some background effects such as the tool trolley etc to fill any blank areas and add more authenticity of a garage/workshop

The new 3D version was signed off by our technical experts following a few minor adjustments and label changes
(for regulation purposes)
It featured as part of a technical article in Issue 1 of The Competent Person Magazine which was published early 2025.
It will also feature in one of the Technical Publications guidance books set to release in 2026.

Pre-Blender Designs
Prior to 2021 I created 3D work in Photoshop, an example of some of my Photoshop designs are below showing
cut-section images of household appliances and electrical items.
